SmartAnalyst automates the identification of patterns and trends in electronic documents (e.g. accident or crime reports) to a much greater extent than was previously possible using standard search and matching techniques.
SmartAnalyst removes the task of manually categorising incoming reports thereby freeing up analysts to concentrate on the more demanding and ‘profitable’ tasks associated with analysing the patterns detected and ensuring that resources are used efficiently.
At the heart of SmartAnalyst is a powerful search engine that uses Bayesian Inference technology to identify recurring patterns and similarities between groups of documents and reports without the need to manually tag the documents.
Using SmartAnalyst, incoming reports are added to the report archive daily and the concept search engine returns a graphical representation showing the newly classified report, the identities of other reports that are conceptually similar and a numerical measure of ‘similarity’. Colour coding is used to show the age of all the reports. The graphical interface highlights ‘clusters’ of similar reports, representing patterns of similar events, enabling trends to be spotted quickly and resources to be allocated faster and more efficiently.
The analyst can quickly drill down to display individual reports by clicking on the individual report identity and navigate around a set of reports representing similar events.
